A tranquil journey through a stunning AONB estuary, rich in wildlife and history.
If the Coastal Voyage is the adrenaline hit, the River Blyth Cruise is the moment you breathe out and take it all in. We cruise upstream from Southwold Harbour along the beautiful Blyth Estuary â one of Suffolk's hidden treasures.
The estuary is managed by Natural England and sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The river winds through reedbeds, meadows and ancient saltmarshes, home to an extraordinary variety of wildlife. There's a profound peace to this trip that stays with you long after you've stepped off the boat.
Keep your eyes and ears open throughout â you might spot Marsh Harriers quartering the reedbeds, Grey Herons standing sentinel on the banks, Cormorants drying their wings, Mediterranean Gulls and Little Gulls in season, and Ospreys on migration in spring and autumn. And then there's Sammy...
Sammy is a resident seal who has made the River Blyth his home. He's become something of a local celebrity and is often spotted lounging on the banks or popping up alongside the boat. We can't guarantee a Sammy sighting on every trip, but it's always a wonderful surprise when he appears!
